been there done that. On the day of transport, have the soil on the dry side and water at the new place. My move was in state, if you go to cross state lines...check that states regulations. Here in IA there is a list of what has to be checked. If it's a cold weather or long drive. Put the plants in a clear plastic bag to conserve moisture, tie it at the top.

the moving company would not take the plants, I had to transport them. The moving company would not trans port other items as well. ..cleaning products i.e. Chemicals, lawn care equipment...ask for thier list and plan accordingly. Pack as basic kitchen and ingredients for a days menus And take by car..include pans can opener etc etc. it beats trying a place open at midnight...

Put your plants in a sheltered environment (inside a vehicle) and arrange so that they can’t fall over.

If you mean house plants, I would put each in a box and support the pots with crushed paper So they can't tip. Cut each box in such away so they have the leaves of the plant are not crushed, depending on the shape of the plant. You may want to wrap plant leaves in tissue paper to protect them as well.

Wrap the pots in newspaper or bubble wrap and place in xerox paper boxes that you can pick up for free from places like UPS and Fed Ex Kinkos, or any friend that works in an office building. For the actual move day, I taped paper bags over them and poked a few holes in them to keep them safe in transport.

Wrap each plant from the bottom of the pot to the top of the plant in clear plastic if you can. A florist might have the bags they use to deliver their plants. Or wrap them in bubble wrap, using packing tape where you need to. Leave the very tip top open so they can get air. If you can, carry them inside your vehicle so you can use air conditioning. If you need it, they probably do too. As soon as you get to your new home, water them, still in their bags. Then you have another day to set them somewhere during the moving and unpacking time. i put my potted plants in a biggish box. then their leaves wont get damaged. Deb
