Fire pit ring ideas.

I had an idea I found from hometalk that I love. But then I was given a huge fire pit ring. It is 4 foot in diameter galvanized ring, making my idea much more expensive.
Any ideas how to make this monstrocity look nice On a budget?

Prepare the ground where you wish your fire area to be. Set your ring. For 5 feet around the ring I would install a 2"-3" thick layer of pea gravel, (really cheap), and hold the gravel in place with bricks or metal benderboard. Then in years to come, you can start upgrading the area as you wish.
Make sure you make it deep enough to contain the wood and then some for safety with how high the flames will be. We didn't use any kind of liner except cement with a drain hole in the bottom and up the sides. Ours is between two and a half and three feet high. We used half moon bricks that were laying around the property and only had to purchase about a dozen to get it to a foot high off the ground. Ours is approximately three feet deep, but we also use it to burn the branches and stuff that fall out of all our really mature trees, so we wanted it a bit deeper. We also burn sensitive mailings rather than shredding. It is amazing the things a person can burn, better than shredding or putting in recycle bin!
It is just a hole we put in the very bottom of the pit that was done with a finger when the cement was a little firmer. It allows the rain water to go into the dirt underneath instead of collecting in the pit. You just need to make sure the hole goes through all the cement to the soil.
