    Yes you can. Make sure they are clean and dry. Lightly sand to remove any gloss and roughen for paint. Prime with a good stain blocking primer then paint.

    Yes, I used a Sherwin Williams indoor trim paint on my wood paneling. Went from brown to very light gray against my brick tile.

    I have painted wall wood in White and in a Beige colors. I used Latex paint (water soluble for easier clean up) I did not use a primer, but wish I had when I painted a White color over a very dark wood. (it took 3 coats of paint... learned my lesson LOL) If your painting over a dark wood, definitely paint your first coat with a primer. If the wood your painting is shiny, then sand it down just a bit and make sure to wipe off after sanding, or your paint will look gritty.
