I would like a new bathroom floor since I need to buy a new toilet,I figured while I have the toilet removed to install a vinyl plank style(wood grained) floor directly over my linoleum. What are the most difficults steps or the dos,& do nots of an easy& quick install? It's abouf 30 sq.ft with the cut outs from vanity & shower

I'm not a fan of laying a new floor on top of the old. Especially vinyl because any pattern or unevenness will eventually telegraph through the new floor. I removed one of those messes in my house a few months ago.

Best advice is to buy 10%-20% more than you think you need and follow the manufacturers instructions. They have engineered this stuff to be an easy install and it is as long as you do it the way they tell you. There are no difficult steps Sparky.

I'm going to buy the vinyl planking thats approx 1/4" thick so it should lay flat & smooth over The thin linoleum

Going with the thicker is definitely the way to go. We used a cheaper, thinner one over some old linoleum in my daughter's kitchen and it shows every bump there is. For us the most difficult parts were removing the old quarter round without breaking them and getting the cuts right. While we didn't have too many to do we still struggled. Be sure to use some sort of shim around the baseboard to help keep everything aligned because it will shift. And get some good knee pads or old cushions for your knees! Good luck!

Be careful with your floor selection... vinyl is often a final Surface finish on laminated wood. Think... wood + water = ???

Thicker floor makes toilet connection problems... at teh drain. There are solutions, but if you're not prepared in advance, could you a day or two to finish...
