Placing beds

Hello everyone and let me just say thanks since now ,you always come up with great solutions! OK my furniture in MB is all placed great, thank you to those that commented. Now I need help with the guest/sons room. It's rectangular 12×16 with closets at end by entrance and the doors on the closets slide open so I don't have to worry about allowing to much room for that area. One closet is still my sons, but he is a Marine now but I want to leave his items their for when he comes home. In the meantime I have purchased a queen size bed for guest. His is full sized. One wall along the hallway which is 14ft long or so due to door. Wall across has two standard size windows. Currently there is a cedar chest in between windows that must stay in room and a chair by the window that is his and his small 2ft desk. So should I place the beds next to each other along windowless wall and across windows since he likes to look out from his bed or should I have one on one wall and one along other wall by a window? This is his first year and so mom's out there that know or even those that aren't in same position but can understand my promising to keep his things in his room can understand why at this stage of the game you want to see their things. It's just like when they go to college and you leave the room for them. If it becomes his career then I will not feel the need to save his bed in there and such because he will be our guest. I just want guest to feel comfortable as well and I have a closet for them to use as well as a chest of drawers. Sorry forgot to mention earlier yes it's a tall chest of drawers but small. OK so that's all. You guys helped me before so help again, please. Thanks.

I couldn't find anything on decorating for a Marine, but maybe this video will give you some ideas.

Hi,thanks. No you see he has what he likes and must be kept in that room,so I am not looking to decorate it for him,I want to be able to use it for a guest. That is why I bought a different bed for guest. Overall I want guest to feel comfortable as if they are not intruding in his space but rather are in their own space. He isn't around I just have his things for when he does come home to visit. I want him to know that he has a place here and always will until he gets on his own two feet like my other two that are still with us. The economy has made it much harder to get out there on your own without loans or bills. So one is almost gone younger has school loan that he is paying off. My Marine has no bills and a little nest egg. He has his plan and that is what we encourage them to do and to try things and move from one job to another. Anyway so getting back to this room, I just don't want it their collecting dust, but even my mom doesn't want to impose by sleeping in his space that is why I need ideas so that guest won't feel as though they are imposing in his space.

A picture would be great for best advice. But, for now, my vote is to not put the beds together. Put one on the wall and the other by the window. You want your guests to be comfortable in their own bed, not his.

That was what I thought as well. This kind of mentally splits room up and they can feel at home with a dresser and closet. I may even purchase a screen or make one to hide his bed so that other item can be incorporated into both spaces. Thank you I guess I was just looking for someone to confirm that it would be OK to have beds opposite each other.

Hi, Here's a layout that may work! If there is a desk chair, he can still look out the window.

    Good luck!

I would replace your son's full bed with the the new queen bed. Both he and guests would enjoy a new mattress. Surely you would not have guests and your son in the room at the same time. Guests would assume that others have slept there before, like in a hotel. Your son is a man who will be glad to have a comfortable bed at home. Best wishes from another mom 😇💖

Yes, it is very hard for a young person to get a start, but it sounds like you have done a very good job with your children. I wish I could have helped you more. Keep watch, maybe someone will come up with just the thing you need.
