soak them over night with a mixture of white vinegar and baking soda

  • I hand wash and dry the good stuff and follow manufacturers directions for the dishwasher. Even doing that (I do not have a high end dishwasher), and using jet dry, they can get filmy. A soak in the sink with vinegar will fix that.

Try wiping them with a clean, dry microfiber cloth before wetting them with various solutions or contact the crystal manufacturer.

hot water with joy liquid. Then dry with a microfiber towel. I clean my windows that way also. It took the film off our new windows when we had our house built.

A close friend who worked in the fine China/Crystal dept of a nice department store said that all they ever used to keep the items on display dust fee and sparkly was lighter fluid and a soft lint free cloth. Personally I am with Ann C.Halstead above; after washing, rinse gently in white vinegar and then dry with a lint free cloth. However, I would not think of soaking my crystal, china or silver in anything. Good luck with your fine things. Many are designed to last a few, if not more, life times.

Do not put good stuff in dishwasher. Microfiber and glass are good friends. So is vinegar. Hey everyone don't buy expensive rinse agents for your dishwasher. Pour vinegar in the compartment. Save that old rinse agent bottle and fill it with vinegar! Good for dishes and your dishwasher. Remember too that dishwashers can etch glass with the minerals in the water. Same thing happens on glass shower doors. It etched there is nothing you can do except prevent it in the future. If you have a water softener use only 1-2 tablespoons of laundry and dishwasher detergent. Anything more is way too much.
