Decorative Baskets

The first time I did this project, my goal was to make decorative storage for friends. I had a lot of left over rope so I decided to use make more baskets! This time I made them a little smaller and they were the perfect size to hold some snacks at the snack table at my wedding. These rope baskets are cute, cheap, and easy to make!
I started out with two small baskets from Dollar Tree for a total of $2!
I went to Home Depot for rope, but as I was wondering around, I came across this mop refill package. I preferred the speckled cream color better than the rope I picked out AND this was only $10. So my "rope" is actually from a mop.
Then I grabbed a hot glue gun and started gluing. I'd put down a couple inches of glue and hold it in place for a few seconds to make sure it stuck tightly in place.
I even got my husband to help. It was a full family effort.
Once the baskets were fully roped, I used purple fabric(the same fabric used in the bridesmaid dresses) as a liner. Our wedding colors were silver and purple, and my dress was a pale ivory color so our snack table was a perfect match!

We want to help you DIY, so some of the materials in this post are linked to sellers. Just so you know, Hometalk may collect a small share of sales from the links on this page.
I don't have a very good photo of the final baskets I used at the wedding, but I made these two, larger baskets using the exact same process. I hope this photo gives a better look at the finished product. (I also made the bench that the baskets sit under - I'll post that project sometime soon!)

Why you put the fabric over the rope? The rope is not good enough?

These would make a cute presentation for wedding shower giving for kitchen items. Just change the cloth. Or even baby shower.
