Scrape it off and clean the area well. You may need to use Goof Off to remove residue. Then clean area with rubbing alcohol and allow to dry completely. Cut the tip of a DAP tube at an angle. Hold the tube so that the point is on top and furthest away from you. Squeeze the tube evenly and pull toward you trying to keep an even bead. You don’t want any gaps or air bubbles in the bead of caulk. Then use a wet finger (you’ll want a damp paper towel to wipe finger on) run your finger along the bead of caulk to smooth out.

    I hope that helps 😊

I can't give you a good answer on how to remove the old caulking, but make sure that you fill the bathtub halfway full with water before putting the new grout on. Also, after you remove the old caulk, let the open area where you removed caulking, dry for a good two days, so as not to seal moisture/mold into the area you are going to re-caulk. Fill tub halfway full of water just prior to caulking, so when you use the bathtub, the caulk will not pull away from the sides.

This is one of those times where you try anything that works. Preferred tool to start is a church key can opener to scrape it out. It's really important to know if you have a porcelain steel or cast iron tub or if it is acrylic. Acrylic damages so easily. I have used razor blades in a holder to do this on a porcelain tub. Just remember that if it is adhered so well that you have to fight to get it out it should probably stay. Just make sure it's good and clean before you put the new stuff in. Use silicone bathtub caulk and a popsicle stick or wet finger to smooth it out. Keep a roll of paper towels handy.

You can purchase a silicon caulk remover at the hardware store that will make it much easier. and cleaner. Otherside use box knife, scraper and just scrape it out.
