    Borax will rid the ants. Sprinkle it in the area of the nests or paths that the ants are traveling, they will pick it up, take it to the nest and it will kill off the ants.

    HI Janice. Have you tried Diatomaceous Earth? This is a natural product made up of crushed shells and coral. It cuts any insect with a exoskeleton causing them to dehydrate and then die. I use it for ants and ticks. Safe for children and pets.

    Fire ants are still pretty much a southern thing. They haven't managed to acclimate to the really cold winters we northerners have each year. I would go with the borax or the Diatomaceous Earth. Myself I would go with the DE, from what I have heard it really does work well.
