Can I trim a climbing rose?

The branches are intertwined and growing in different directions. My neighbors planted Leyland Cypress 6ft from my rose's, so only the top half grows and blooms.

I trim ALL my rose bushes down to a feet from the ground every year between sep and October and they return to full size plus some every spring.
You can absolutely trim your roses. Do it now before winter hits. Cut them back to about 12 to 18 inches from the ground. Also make sure they don't have any black spot and give them a little feed. They will thank you in the spring. Lelandi cypress are the absolute worst plant ever.
I trim mine twice a year
i have several around my farm that grows crazy and so I trim October and sometimes April depending on Texas weather I just wait till not blooming then trim
