Use a cheepo plastic pumpkin as a mold. Then when the concrete dries, you can just crack the plastic to get it to come away from your "new" pumpkin.

There are posts here on Hometalk on the process and materials, which would be the same as making concrete candle holders with plastic molds.

Hello Leath37, Personally I would get one of those orange plastic trick or treat pumpkins that kids carry around on Halloween, and mix up some cement, give the inside of the pumpkin a light spray with cooking spray and fill it up to the top with the cement (taking time to pick the pumpkin up an inch or two and drop it a few times to make sure air is not being trapped). Then let it dry and cut it out. Okay, that's is what I would do, however THIS is what others would do:

and with the link below I'm thinking that if you wanted the pumpkin hollow with cut out eyes, nose, and mouth, so it will glow like a "regular" pumpkin you are going to have to cut them out then block the openings with styrofoam block cut to fit them, and tape well so they don't come out when the cement is poured in. You will also have to put in a block cut to fit against the cut out forms for the eyes, etc, PLUS maintain a "hole" to put the candle into, but still small enough that it allows room for cement to surround it, and tall enough that it is level with the top. Then cover the top with saran wrap and weight the top. It wil lmake more sense once you watch the following video (I hope) . Good Luck and thanks for asking HOMETALK for ideas:

I'm curious...what will you do with a concrete pumpkin? Why does it have to be concrete? It will be quite heavy, won't it?
