A good way to store extra things?

My boyfriend and I just moved in together and we both have so much stuff individually.... we already have shelves on the walls and five dressers and have taken up all of the closet space — we even have seasonal stuff in storage that we’re not using anymore! Help! Besides getting rid of MORE stuff, what can we do to maximize our space and clutter?

Use bed risers to gain space under bed. Maybe purge and either sell some stuff or donate? Good luck ;)

  • How about under the bed storage? Combining two full households can be tough, chances are you all may have duplicates of things you do not really need. Don't stress, just work on one area at a time.

We build a loft shelf over the garage door , it offers a lot of unused space.

This happened to me when I moved in with now hubby just before we got married. We were in a one bedroom to boot, but we knew we were moving and would be able to use it all in the house we rented in Galveston. Back then, they didn't have a lot of the storage things that they do now. The house we are in now has small closets, so I try to hang only what I think will wrinkle. I put the queen size bed on risers so that I could double stack under the bed boxes. I keep winter tops and sweaters in one, pants in another, summer tops in one and assorted in another. I keep extra quilts and sheets, etc. in the vacuum bags you can buy, that saves a lot of space and can be put on shelves and under the bed and when they are needed, they are clean and ready to use. If you have appliances that are doubled, pick the best one and donate the other to salvation army, or the red cross or somewhere that they can go to places that have been devastated recently, same goes for sheets and towels, kitchen utensils, etc. You may need to be brutal, but it eliminates some of the doubling that you have now.

Different season clothes can go in suitcases under the bed as well as some items that you don't use that often
