Whenever there's a family gathering, whether at my house or my daughter's, I love to create party favours that people can take home with them. Usually, they involve a sweet treat and a small keepsake.

For Thanksgiving, I found tiny tin buckets at the dollar store that I thought would be the perfect beginning for this year's project.
First, line your buckets with raffia "straw." To make this workable, you have to cut the raffia into two to three inch strips. Fill the bucket about two-thirds full.
When I bought these fudge squares, I wasn't really sure how I would finish the party favour but in any case, each square needed to be individually wrapped in plastic wrap to keep them fresh.
I played around with a few ideas but decided to wrap the fudge in a square of orange tissue paper. Twist the tissue paper around the fudge and use a small piece of green pipe cleaner as a closure. Leave one end of the pipe cleaner sticking out to represent a leaf and trim the top of the tissue paper short.
Use a sheet of address label to print a greeting like "Happy Thanksgiving" and attach them to paper labels or construction paper. Cut the flags out using pattern-making craft scissors. Of course, if you don't have the special scissors, this isn't essential; use regular scissors.
Break long skewers into five-inch pieces and use craft glue to attach to the back of the flags.
Sit the "pumpkin" and flag in the bucket of raffia "straw" and you're done. I was pleased with how my little party favour turned out and it was a big hit at our family gathering this year.
