Homemade pesticide

I have a tree in a pot outside on my patio I would love to bring it in before gets too cold what would be a homemade remedy to put in the dirt to kill all the little critters That would not harm the plant

    I don't know about home made.. one way to catch all the critters is to use what used to be called a "Shell Pest Strip" (still available, just called something else now). Put your tree in an area out of the sun, hang the pest strip in the lowest part of the tree and then wrap both the tree and the pot in clear plastic sheeting... like a bag... leave in the bag for about a week.. (the sun will cook the tree thru the plastic... so place it somewhere shady) you can leave the strip in the branches to catch any new stuff that hatches... the strips normally last about 60 days

    1 cup vegetable oilwith1Tbs. Soap. In a spray bottle mix 1quart water with 2 of the oil mix. Shake bottle well. Put on plants prior to bringing them in.

    There are systemic ones out there, I don't know what they all kill, but it does take time for it to work, so it may not have time to work before you bring it in the house.
