I have a fast and easy Christmas card craft. Using last years cards. I look at my old card ,then pick out a card with a winter night picture. . Farm house with birds on the gate . A picture with the moon so you know it's a night sky. You get the idea
All these cards will work ,but the top ones works best because of the size of the thing in the picture. You will need a picture frame. I got the one you see to the left at the Dollar Tree. Pull the back and stand piece off ,then see if the frame will stand on it's side with out falling over.
Cut the back off the card your are using .Then in the night sky in some of the stars poke little holes in the card .You don't have to do all the stars just some .I did more than I regularly would .Just so you could see the trick. I also put holes in some of the building windows, that have light in the windows. You don't want a big round hole , just a way for some light to shine when it is back lit.
This card had no stars in the night sky. I put the holes in with a needle Because church windows are so little. I just used the tip of the needle to just put a little hole in the windows. I also put a hole in the snow on the branch to the left of this picture Just to show you to look for other places to add some light to your picture. I use a piece of cardboard to work on, when punching holes in the card.
It is back lit with a Dollar Tree candle ,Sorry all I had was a color changing one.
With the glass in the frame and the card behind it ,I had great trouble getting a good picture of this.Sorry for that
Well what it should look like is the picture has light to it. It's just a fast and easy Decoration you can do with kids ages 9 to 11 .They can put the holes in the cards in areas they would like. Frame them up and put a Dollar Tree electric candle behind them. Just remember don't put the back, back on the frame You just tape the picture in place from the back. Then as you turn on lamps for the evening turn on the candle, and watch you picture look like it has life to it. I started making these about ten years ago .I would just set them on a table in front of a table lamp. So when the table lamp was turned on ,it would do the trick of getting the holes to light up and make the picture come to life. I thought the electric candle would also help to hold it up so it would not fall over. I would check it, to make sure the paper won't get to hot. I had this one on for about an hour it was ok, did not get hot..
