Need to find the studs, and drive 3 inch wood screws in. First pre-drill holes in tile ... here's a good guide, but I would use the 3" screws thats what all the home health services and contractors here use... https://www.lowes.com/projects/bed-and-bath/grab-bar-essentials/project

A grab bar in a shower (especially a fiberglass one) requires a wooden support on the back of the fiberglass (we bought a new fiberglass shower insert and were asked if we wanted the one with the support already installed for $200 more) Our cousin, who is a contractor said we could do it ourselves using a 1X4 X the width of the shower back, and Liquid Nails... it is attached on the backside of the shower before the shower is installed. if your shower is already in place.. there is only one way I can think of to reach the backside of the shower... go in thru the dry wall on the other side of the wall from the back of your shower.... repairing the drywall might be easier than removing and re-installing the shower surround... You might want to talk to a contractor, if you are not sure you have the skills to do it yourself.

    Good Luck

I agree with Sharon. You need to hit a stud with at least one screw at each end. If you can't hit any studs where you want to place the grab bar you need to use toggle bolts to fasten them. At least 3" to 4" long. I installed a lot of grab bars using toggle bolts When I worked in a nursing home. Walls had no wood studs. All metal studs by state regulation.
