Throw them some peanuts in the shell, away from your flowers. The'll spend time burying them for the winter, and their fun to watch.

Feeding them with peanuts, dried corn, etc. away from the garden is a good way, I do that with chipmunks. Try some cayenne pepper powder and grated Irish Spring bar soap. I also use mouse traps baited with peanut butter. Put them by the plants they bother the most as a start, or just get a bunch and do all over the garden. The snap scares the bejesus out of them, but does not catch them. They should avoid that area for a while. I have had good luck with it lasting for a good while. Had to replant both bush beans and corn because they were eating the young sprouts right down almost to the ground. Love to watch the squirrels, chipmunks and rabbits, but they are really bad in gardens!

Pinwheels do not work they just go around them. But the moth balls seem to do it.
