What's the best way to attach a metal paper towel holder to a wood?

There really aren't many choices. The best would be to mount it with wood screws. That would hold the weight of both the metal holder and a full roll of paper towels. This way if you want to remove it you would only have a couple of screw holes to fill. I don't think you would want to use a glue since that would damage the finish if you take it off.

It really depends on the towel holder. I am assuming that this is not going on the wall? (A wall holder has holes for screws. Find the studs or use wall anchors and attach the board to the wall, then attach the holder to the wood.)

Because of the use of the paper towel holder, screws are best, but without knowing what kind you've got, it's difficult to say. The glue would have to be very strong and not really show. Screws might show, but they usually stay put and can always be tightened.

Hello Jenna4855, I would attach it to the wood with screws. If you don't want to put holes in the wood, you could glue it or maybe even velcro it.

Drill a tiny pilot hole for every screw, and don't go too deeply. Then drill the screws that came with the metal paper towel holder into the pilot holes and you should have a tight, strong fit. Best wishes 😇💞

A photo would help because I don't know what kind of holder you have and what the wood looks like. If it's the type of paper towel holder that has a flat back piece with two "arms" that lay flat or can stand up to hold a roll of paper towels, then I think you can just use screws to attach the holder to the wood and more screws to attach the wood to the wall.

Thanks fellow DIY'ers, since I don't have a drill I'll use a small nail to make a starter hole then screw the holder on!
