Can you send a photo of how it looks now? I was once thinking of making up a false wall in behind our TV using a panel 4'x8' (1200mmx2400mm) and backlighting it with LED lights. We bought a TV cabinet instead, but I still think the backlit panel would have looked really good and wouldn't have been too difficult to make.

Save 2 cardboards from paper towels, cover with contact or some design over the cardboard. Run the wires through the cardboards and lay on the floor behind the T.V.
There are plastic half-tube like covers you can buy and paint your wall color.
