Can paint be applied over wallpaper??

It is not a recommendation as down the road the paper be bubble and peel

Yes you can, but you the wallpaper may peal at some future time. I think that one can always tell by the seams that the wallpaper was painted over. That's not a great look. Do it properly and take the time to strip the wallpaper.

I would not recommend this, because the wetness of the paint will cause the paper to bubble up and peel. Maybe if you put a sealant of some kind over the wallpaper first, it might not.

yes but it must go on thin allowing several coats plenty of time to dry between. If it gets too wet it can peal and bubble. But I did this to my whole first floor because it had really ugly wallpaper from the 60s. If your wallpaper is newer, say 1990s and after, it will easily strip off with a spray bottle of water and a scraper then wash and paint. This is the best idea

Don't do it...You will regret. Or if you sell - the next owner will be saying nasty things about you as they struggle to get it down!

Yes, you should probably use a primer before you apply your paint. However, removing the wallpaper would really be the best thing to do. For several reasons. Depending on the type of wallpaper, it could absorb a lot of your paint & primer making your project far more expensive and time consuming. You could also get well into your project and have your wallpaper start peeling away from the wall once the primer/paint soak through. Which would ruin your paint and make it where you have to remove the paper after all and you'd waste whatever paint/primer you've put on your wall already.

You might be best off to skim coat the room, then paint.
