I am assuming that your caddy is a common removable portable style that hangs up in the shower.

What is the caddy made out of, and how much do you remember paying for it originally? If you added up the cost of materials and your time and labour to try to refurbish it, it may be more cost effective to just start with a new one.

If your caddy is coated wire, it may be difficult to repaint it. You could try using one of the spray paints that is made for plastic outdoor furniture. If it is plain metal, scuff it up with sandpaper to remove any shiny finish, then spray it with a good exterior rust preventive paint.

Assuming it is metal, clean dry and spray paint using Rustoleums 2X spray paint for metal, giving two lights coats allowing to dry in between

Is it rusty? If so you can find a rust remover that also seals the metal so it should not rust again. Paint it and it should last for years. I did. Look in the paint dept at a home center.

Linda, there are spray paints for metal and paints for plastic. Clean your shower caddy well and dry. Spray paint outside on a tarp, using a paint for either plastic or metal.

Use a wire brush to clean off any debris, wipe down well and spray it with the color of your choice. Then seal.
