Bedroom Windows and screens

Hi. These are very similar to the bedroom windows we have in our home. We have had them for a while now and we still have the screens which were so time consuming and tricky to put in that both screens in my kids windows slipped out of my hands and ended up being dropped. Now there is just a slight nick at the edge of a corner of each screen, but it's enough to throw the whole screen out of alignment and it will no longer fit in the window. I was wondering if anyone would have any suggestions as to what we could do to replace that little corner or did anyone have this problem come up with another solution to maybe put the screens in in a different way? Thank You very much

Is the "slight nick" in the screen frame also, or just in the mesh part of the screen? Do your windows have any particular brand name?

Hi. No, no brand name, & the nick is at one corner of the frame, which throws the whole process of putting in the window off. It was already difficult, but without that little corner it's pretty much impossible. The screen just keeps falling out..

This is a great idea... I have a 1915 house with wood windows and the storm windows go in from the inside... I'm adding hinges and handles... I don't know why I didn't think of this before...

I'm sorry, but I don't think I fully understand what exactly is the cause of the screen falling out of the frame. - if it is only the corner of the frame that is visibly damaged, why should the whole frame keep coming out? Maybe it is the whole track of the frame that is defective or damaged?

Could you post a picture please? That way more Hometalkers would be able to give you more precise answers to your specific situation.

Sorry I think I forgot to mention that the screen has a frame around it, it's not just a screen by itself. Because the screen has a frame around it that has to slide in on each side and fit in exactly, when there is the corner that's not there to snap it in it throws the whole thing off balance somehow and it just ends up falling out all the time. Unfortunately because of the the fact that the screen is broken the way it is, I am unable to show you because the screen doesn't stay in long enough to take a picture of it...

Were these windows in the house when you moved in? or did you pay to have them installed? How is it that you think the company is no longer in business?

We live in a condo area and about 7 years ago they replaced all of our windows. When I called them to find out who did our windows I was told that they were no longer in business then...
