The best time to cut down a tree is before it falls down and breaks something. You can cut down a tree at any time of the year.

Best to do when you are mad at your neighbor and your homeowner's insurance is current.

Really, the best time is February or March before Spring. I had two maples removed, then drilled holes in the stumps to kill the roots using Bayer Brush Killer (they grow 7-10 years) and use them for planters. Had a man come over with a stump grinder to go around the base of the stumps and then planted flowers. It looks real nice.

If the tree is rotten in the middle, has been struck by lightning a time or two, has had branches to break off previously, is too large to dig up and move somewhere else, or it obstructs your "natural light" or view of your neighbor's garage, it's time to go. If it shaded your house and kept your electricity bill down, use darker sheers and curtains. Best wishes 😇💞

My first thought is, "Oh, that is too bad." BUT...if you must remove the tree, and you can't wait because of a dangerous condition, then you must do it sooner than later. However, if you can, I would want to wait until the leaves are off of the tree, and my yard's flowers, etc., are dormant; that way, there would be lesser damage to the yard and existing gardens.
