DIY Sandwich Bag Wreath

I love having a variety of wreaths, but this one is one of my favorite. It's not the typical deco mesh, grapevine or ribbon wreath - it's made with plastic sandwich baggies!

And you can use them for any holiday. You can make your wreath and then add on any little decor pieces you want or specific colors of ribbon for the holiday.

What you'll need for this:

fold top sandwich bags
metal hanger or piece of wire
wire cutter

For a 12" wreath (about the size of a metal hanger) I used 150 sandwich bags, so you can make adjustments accordingly.
I didn't have any metal hangers, but I did have some leftover wire from another project, so I used that to make my frame. I just measured out some wire until it was the size I wanted and wrapped the ends around each other until it stayed in place. If you are using a wire hanger you can just fold the top part of your hanger down or you can use your wire cutter and cut the extra off.
Take one of your baggies and gather it together from top to bottom .
Take that baggie and tie it in a knot around your frame. Once you have it nice and secure around your wire, fluff out the ends of your baggie a bit to make it look more full.
Continue to tie your baggies on to your wire frame. As you work around your wreath adding more baggies, push your knots tight up against each other so that you get as many knots on your wreath as you can. The more baggies you can tie on to your frame the more full your wreath will be when you are finished.
Once you have all your baggies tied on you are ready to dress it up. I like to take different ribbon colors and sizes and tied them on. Just cut a piece of ribbon, tie it in a knot around the frame just like you did the bag and then heat seal the ends to keep them from fraying. You can add cute little signs to your wreath, small figurines or any little item that goes along with your theme.
I made this finished sandwich bag wreath for my aunt who lives in Wisconsin, but spends the cold months in Florida. She can hang it up here and then take it to her place in Florida!

I remember doing these wreaths when I was in 3rd or 4th grade. I thought it was soooo cool! Never thought about adding the decorations like you did! I love it!
