your zone is too cold to leave out on your patio--bring it inside--at food container supply stores(or if you have friends in restaurant biz) you can get a large plastic salad bowl-to hold the pot--as they like moisture--and apt. winter heat can dry them out quicker
Is it considered an annual or is it the perennial type. If it is the perennial one I have heard that you cut them back and leave them in the ground. I would mulch it well for a little added protection. If it is the annual type, bring it inside, probide it with the light it had outside from a window or grow light. Treat for any bugs that are on the leaves before you bring it in the house or they may spread into your other house plants. Provide it with the moisture it likes, but the dryness in the winter home will be different than the humidity outside, so don't over or under water it and it should be happy.
