Countertop paint kits aren't cheap either, up to $125. You gave us a nice picture of the cabinet but not of the subject of your question. What is the issue with your current countertop? Is it post-formed with an integrated backsplash or is it flat? How much countertop is there? Have you actually priced a replacement or do you assume that it will be too expensive? If you check out homedepot.com I am seeing 8' counter sections for just over $100.

I used 16x16 travertine tiles to make a beautiful stone countertop.

Marble contact paper! If it’s a rental you can peel it off! Mine has been in my counters for over a year and it’s held up! Make sure to protect it when usi hot pots!

You can paint it with chalk paint. Just make sure to protect it with many coats of a polyacrylic for protection.

I painted mine as well I sponged a few different colors to look like faux marble. It turned out great until I could replace it.

You can buy a couple of smaller containers of paint (probably a pint or quart) and sponge them on. If you want three colors that's okay too. Let the first color dry completely then do the other color and so on. Don't forget the edges. When it's all dry and done put at least two coats of polyurethane on the countertop. Make sure the first coat is completely dry. You can get matt or gloss depending on what you want. This is pretty inexpensive and you have a beautiful countertop when done.

I used 4 different colors and sponge painted mine. It has to be acrylic paint. (Walmart .50 a bottle. It took about 8 bottles.) Let it dry. Then 2 to 3 coats of Polly Acrylic high gloss. It takes 2-3 hours for each coat to dry. I let the paint dry overnight. It looks awesome, even a year later. No one can believe I painted it!

There is a product at either Lowe's or homedepot. It's a very nice paint specifically made to paint Formica counter top.
