I found a 6 page pdf file with information about gyp board and practical applications. It seems like a cost effective way to fireproof a furnace room.

Think about where the electrical plugs, and wall light bulbs if there are any, may need to be moved forward away from the insides of the 2X4's to fit into the gyp rock before installation.

When installing the gyp rock, mark on the outside where the 2x4's are, so that later on, if you want to hang shelves or anything heavy on the wall, you already know where the wood is behind the gyp rock.

Will you be putting in any additonal insulation as well?
