What purpose do they serve? Do you have image? Perhaps a dowel?

They are strips of wood my husband put in to break up the solid concrete look. I can get them out and pound down the nails that were in them to hold in place. But don’t want to put in something that will rot again. They are about 1/2” w x 30” long, 2” deep.

thank you for your response Lynn.

If you can get them out, replace with pea gravel or plant periwinkle or other type of crevice plant.

i like your idea John but they are about 30” w x 1/2”

i don’t think that product comes in 1/2”

i can cut the length if they have 1/2” strips.

    Thanks much.

Check a pool and patio store. There is a vinal strip they might carry. Or vinal weather striping that you would put around a door. (Think of the rubber on bridge for the contracting and expanding.) The wood isn't necessary for the structure. You could fill in the gap with stone as well.
