"The common sunflower (Helianthus annuus) has been hybridized into varieties that flower from the middle of summer through early fall. Blooms can appear in orange, red and yellow. One of the characteristics that make this a popular species is the relatively little time it takes to reach maturity. About 90 days after planting seeds, you could see large flower heads towering over you. Cultivars within this species range in height from 18 to 120 inches and are well suited to Mediterranean climates. Another annual sunflower, the Mexican sunflower (Tithonia rotundifolia "Aztec Sun"), produces numerous blooms from midsummer through mid-fall. This multi-branching sunflower can reach 48 to 72 inches tall in coastal climates." I had no luck finding a type of sunflower blooming for 9 months but perhaps you can plant different ypes of sunflowers to keep the blooms appearing as each type reaches its growing season. Good luck! http://homeguides.sfgate.com/time-year-sunflowers-bloom-67915.html

How about sunflowers, sown at two week intervals, for six or eight weeks?

I love sunflowers and I grow them every year. I live in NC and what I do is plant some then wait until they start growing ( I start with the tallest ones then keep sizing then down, so the tallest are in the back ) when they are sprouting up I wait about a week and half then start the next size and so on. But I do agree with Ficher, the Mexican Sunflower last over 90 days. I planted mine in the spring around mid-April and they are still blooming and they are beautiful. This is just one of mine. I have about 7 plants. If you plant them be sure to keep dirt around the bottom because as they grow the come out a lot different than a regular sunflowers. Kind of like a small bush or maybe like mum's. So I always keep dirt and potting soil around them and I water them always after the sun goes down.
Good luck. I hope this helped.

Ice plants! They look mostly green with tiny pink straw flowers. EXTREMELY easy to grow and require very little care. One small plant will completely fill a pot and trail down.
