You could go bold and paint the cabinets and if you like an updated rustic look you could put "Airstone" artificial stone right over your tile.

PICK THE CREAM COLOR YOU HAVE IN YOUR BACKSPLASH AND PAINT THE WALLS THAT COLOR. YOU SHOULD COME UP WITH AN INEXPENSIVE CABINET TO STASH YOUR COUNTER APPLIANCES. I BELIEVE EVERY ROOM LOOKS ITS BEST WHEN THE WALLS DO NOT COMPETE WITH THE MAIN FEATURE, AS IN YOUR CABINETS. MAKE SURE THE CREAM COLOR DOESN'T CLASH WITH THE CABINETS, THEN YOU MAY WANT TO PAINT AND THEN REMOVE AND REPLACE BACKSPLASH WITH SOMETHING IN THE NATURAL LOOKING STONE, STAYING WITH THE CABINETS NATURAL APPEAL. Yes I like the natural cabinets too but paint the wall a neutral that matches the backsplash. I love the contrast of your beautiful countertop with a lighter background.

Hi, spray paint your handles nickle; paint the tiles a grey that has either a green or blue base and use either a light blue-grey or a light celery green on the walls. This will complement your black countertops and chairs. On your valances, I'd cover with fabric for a different appeal. Then if you get tired of the fabric, it can be easily removed. Good luck.

I am not a fan of unpainted wood Especially knotty pine! But those cabinets and that ceiling are really special. I would not paint them. I would do everything else that was suggested. I spend a lot of my time in trouble for my unwanted opinions, feel free to ignore me.🤔 I would put the microwave above the stove, too. They sell safe shelves, that sit on the stove and hold it up, l don’t remember what they cost 🦋

I personally would take the outdated wood scalloped valances off, then paint all the cabinets white and add new or sprayed hardware. Add two roam shades in the fabric of your liking and paint the kitchen a fresh coat of paint. The ceiling paint in white also.

I am a fan of knotty pine so I would leave that alone. Maybe you could remove some of the clutter in another manner.

I would start by taking everything off of the counters; keep what you must have; find a home for the other 'stuff' and start from there. Especially look at the shelf over the stove. Too much 'stuff' in a confined place. Consider putting out a collection of plates mixed in with family photos on shelf that seems to go around the room. You need a consistent theme and color scheme to tie everything together.

Please do not paint your lovely wood cabinets white! But do paint your walls a lighter color as others have suggested. Paints with blue undertones will go well with the cabinets, countertop and the red brick over your stove. I would take down the valances, but if you want to keep them cut off the scalloped edge. I suggest you do your walls first, you will be amazed at the difference it will make to the whole room and is the best bang for your buck.

Your cabinets look great right now at least in the pictures. They're unique not the same white almost everyone has now. And the ceiling is wonderful. I agree with removing the scalloped wood over the windows and painting the walls a lighter color that complements the wood ( obviously no yellow or orange tones)also painting or replacing cabinet handles with black or wrought iron. Remove clutter and then if still not quite right look into painting or otherwise covering the backsplash which would look best all one solid color cause the knotty pine is so busy already. Also consider painting or perhaps whitewashing your table to give some contrast.
