some thing cold/ cool to the paws. did you use any soap or water to wash the paws....dawn dish soap is what’s used to clean animals after oil spills, had to use it on my cats a time or to. Ask a vet about antihistamine for you pooch.

Atinfing nettles are terrible. My vet recommended benadryl for my Doxie who had ant bites on his paws and legs. Check with your vet before using. It made him sleepy but really seemed to relieve his discomfort.

I used Banana Boat Aloe Vera, Teddy licked every cream etc that I have put on him in the past and I really don't know what to put on him that won't poison him or upset his tummy if he licks it off. Buy the time I went to the vet's it might have worn off.

Try spraying some vinegar, or use a cotton ball soaked in vinegar on his paws. I remember one year at the beach everyone was getting stung, including children. The life guards were spraying vinegar and water on the children to relieve the sting. It's worth a shot.

I would put some duck tape on them to pull the nettles out, kinda like waxing your legs. or you could use sugar wax and some soft cotton strips to catch the stingers like you are waxing your chin..... when you rip it off, press down immediately to relieve pain.

Whichever you use, apply in one direction, tear off in the opposite, press down with hand to stop pain.

To allievate pain, I've used oatmeal put in an old nylon or sock, put in warm water, and squeeze until the water is milky, then apply the poultice to pet until the pain stops. You can reuse the nylon oatmeal bag more than once.

Stinging nettles isn't so much about pulling out 'nettles'... as much as about the CHEMICALS that are released when touched. I picked some from my garden the other day, thought I was being STUNG! Nope, no needles in my skin. But the plant has a chemical that hits the skin, thus it stings...for a long time. Two days, actually. Actually, after a while the skin did not have any feeling either.

I put on CASTOR OIL - it's a natural antibacterial - and if licked (dogs) it won't harm them. Also, I had to wash the area right away ... I did not know the Nettles was the problem, until I looked closely. It was a small plant among my flowers.

Just to mention, I swear this Nettle plant came in with a bunch of wildflower seeds I purchased! I had never seen this plant any where in my yard before this. The flower bed was a New Bed that I put in a non-planted area so I had some control over what was being grown.

What's really bad is Poison IVY, which a lot of my neighbors seem to neglectfully allow to grow near their properties, and along sidewalks. I may have to mention this to our Local Mayor, because it's getting out of control. And what about young children who walk along these areas? (and pets.)
