If you live in a high rise, check your HOA for rules and limitations on having plants and especially vegetables. Make sure your balcony is strong enough to hold a garden bed. If you can use a spot with full sun, you can plant things with deeper roots, but keep the taller plants to the back of the bed so other plants are not shaded too much. Use moveable, wheeled containers if the plants will only get partial sun. Make sure you have a way to water the plants, whether it is by a hose or a watering can. fix timber boards in place where you want the raised bed with stakes, then fill with soil or compost. If you want free standing beds, use timber cut to size of base. 4 - 2" x 2" legs the height of total planter. 2 - lengths of timber for ends and 2 for sides . Nail each side to the legs then the ends till you have an open box with long internal legs. Nail or Screw the base to the frame. Cut the Legs off and Screw the legs to the base fixing from the inside of base through to legs. Drill some drainage holes in the base. and you are ready to go. MARINE PLYWOOD IS A GOOD CHOICE FOR THIS PROJECT.
