Entryway ceiling suggestion - something other than popcorn ceiling

Rick
by Rick
I am redoing an entryway (size 6x10) - I want to remove the old popcorn ceiling and add some whitened distressed panels - I think some of the home improvement stores sell these - does not have to be very thick - suggestions, pics of other such projects are appreciated. Thanks, Rick

Thank you Janet - so many ideas - I just need to pick one that fits with my main area I think. Have a nice day. Rick

Some of the tin ceiling panels (some are metal, some are plastic or foam) might give your entry the interest you are looking for... Lowe's has lots of patterns and so does Amazon. They are available in several sizes.

They can be painted any color, copper is very in right now.

Hi Rick. You can also use pallet wood and do a white wash on it. I did a ceiling and staggered them. Looks great and distressed.

Thank you Amanda for your answer - I will check out Lowes nearby as often they have free pallets for the asking.

Whatever you decide to do, wear a good dust mask while you're working on it and clean up the dust with soap and water rather than with a vacuum. Some popcorn ceilings contain asbestos. If you can afford it I would recommend hiring a professional to remove thee popcorn.

Thank you Anne - I will certainly use a mask

It belatedly occurs to me that you can use a slightly dropped ceiling that will cover and seal the popcorn. That way you don't have to worry with removing it.
