Why does the new caulking around my kitchen sink keep cracking?

I cleaned out the old and used a good quality matching color chalk, but it still cracked. The sink is stainless and the countertop is granite.

Fill the sink up with water, as high as you can, then recaulk. The weight of the sink filled will water will give you a true fit with caluk. The same things goes for a tub or sink, this should work out.
Try using a clear silicone caulk.. it should stay pliable

Thank you, Ebbjdl! We have trouble with the caulking around the tub, and I just assumed that was the way it was and we'd just have to keep replacing it!
