Sure you can paint. We painted all 3 of my in laws mobiles homes. I would test an area, you have nothing to lose. Wash first with TSP then use a good primer like Kilz or Zinsser. Any decent painter worth his or her salt can tape and mud properly if you want to go that route too. Do not get discouraged, you can fix this!
Oh my friend, paneling can be painted. I live in a mobile home with paneling. I removed the vertical strip then filled the area with joint compound. Sanded, then washed the paneling with hot water and TSP, primed with Kilz2, painted the walls with interior wall paint in a satin finish. Worked great, looks great.
To get really creative you could paint every other 'strip' a darker shade of the paint or paint alternating strips in satin & then semi gloss. You could add a chair rail around the room for added design & dimension. OR add a sand mixture to your paint for a different look. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to design your own comfort home! Enjoy and best of luck.
Kilz or a good primer should make paint adhere. I think they make special paint and primer for labelling. Check with your local paint store.
Yes you can paint this paneling. First you need to wash the paneling down with some TSP. then give it two coats of a good primer like Kilz. Then give it a couple coats of your favorite color paint. It will make a world of difference..
All perfect advice. I did this in my daughters modular home. I did remove the strips filled them in with drywall patching compound, let it dry overnight. Next day I went over the compound withe a damp sponge to smooth it out. P_rimed and painted.
I have used textured wallpaper over paneling. You don't even see the vertical lines.
Use a good primer and then paint
