Did you use a grass seed for shade?
You'll need to water, water, water. Even then you might not get grass. Throw down shade grass seeds. Keep the areas free from oak leaves by raking or blowing frequently.
Consider a moss garden.
There is a grass seed for shady seeds , special, for shade.
