Will the new waterproof coating stuff advertized on TV bond to rock?

I see the ads on TV about the tape and brush or sprayon coating. I have a rock step that gets a lot of rain and moisture. Just wondering if any of you have tried that stuff. Does it really work? Also thinking of maybe coating my cement walkway with it.

I think your talking about Flex Seal, I don't think it's for that, it holds up with water pressure, but I don't think it's for outside weather that you want it for.

I wouldn't use it for anything. There are similar name brand products at the home centers that are cheaper and really do work. I bought a Dow Chemical product at Home Depot for $6.99 a can.

yes, but it will wear off more quickly than a good epoxy brush on paint, you wash steps down with vinegar to etch the surface of the stone to make the epoxy paint bond to the stone
Try epoxy
Epoxy paint is based on Epoxy glue and Spray paint designed to be long life paint the brush on you are able to apply several thicker coats to smooth the surface after last coat dries if you wish you can apply clear nonskid paint on the top surface of the step and 8" into landing.
also rent a sandblaster to remove the old paint from the stone so you have a clean surface to work from, the peeling is probably from many repaints.
