Hello! Your bathroom is very monotone in color. However, painting over the granite is not feasible. Paint doesn't Adhere well and you would diminish its value. Rather, paint the walls a soft yellow or other color that will take on the focus — the granite will recede in importance in the room.

You could try using contact paper on the cabinets or removable wallpaper on the walls. It's a great way to change a rental without permanent damage.

Considering what my master bath looks like yours is beautiful. I get you do not care for the granite, but it looks to be in excellent shape. I am not a fan of granite to begin with but maybe consider working with it until you can afford to have it removed. Not much help, but it is easy to keep clean and looks good.

I'm not certain that's all granite as the (example) the trim pieces would've cost a fortune to have a stonemason route and polish each piece. I would test in an inconspicuous place some various paint removal products to see if it's actually stone at all. If it isn't all stone, you have an opportunity to paint over whatever areas you'd like.

If it is all granite, I agree that painting wherever you can in a bright color will go far in improving the appearance. Alternatively, covering different areas with contact paper or removable wallpaper will brighten things up.

Some decisions need to be based on whether you're a renter or owner. As a renter, be very cautious to not cause any permanent changes w/o the landlord's permission!

It looks like it was a sprayed-on faux "granite" product. No one intentionally buys the mirror and the cabinets in all the same thing. It will depend on what the surface really is..... You may be able to use a bonding primer on the cabinet fronts, and the mirror frame. Ask at your local paint store for a super-bonding primer. And then you can paint them the color of your choice. Just use a semi-gloss sheen level.

What you are calling outdated is a first choice for many people. First, it is not all the same color. I would pick a color or two in the granite you can embrace and work with that. You can lighten up the room with accessories, towels, art (I'm a big proponent of art in bathrooms; the bigger the better), lots of sparkle (think crystal & mirror used judiciously). You might consider changing your hardware which will make a huge difference. In reality, if you can't demo, you will have to find a way to love what you have by changing your mindset. Good luck.

My answer is rather easy to do, but it will take you a weekend.

1. Call your local glass installation company and get a quote to have them apply mirror sheets over your granite, perhaps only in the shower.

You could do it yourself with 12 inch squares that you can easily buy at home depot. You're going to need to rough up the smooth face of the stone to get the adhesive a grip.

2. My favorite (as I am a visual artist) would be to take panels made from lean or plexiglass in the size of your shower walls (or any of the surfaces that you want to lighten up or hide) and go to a craft store and buy glass beads and pebbles intended for florists to work with. Beach glass is my favorite as it is teal in appearance. Roll paint or spray paint the reverse side of the plexiglass to the bright color that you want. This will look glossy and stunning as it will appear as if it has a 1/4" coat of glass over the color. Either hang those panels as solids by drilling and bolting those into the stone, or take the various glass beads and over the weekend, hot glue them into place on the shiny side of the panels to create a one of a kind pebble grain shower. These cost thousands to install if I do it and it will only cost you time and about $500 to make over the entire shower...the pebbles glisten in the light and REFLECT BACK THE LIGHT.

I hadn't seen the large photo. I think "faux granite" is what, in the old days, was called Zolotone (sp?). It was a paint you sprayed on to give the effect of granite. I agree, it is odd that your cabinet doors look the same as the counters. If it is paint, paint over them. If not, changing the doors will make a huge difference. Also, if in the budget, you could change the shower enclosure to something other tha clear glass. Good luck!

I’d remove the shower door & frame & replace with a plain white/cream shower curtain & the mirror frame can be painted the same. Mostly I’d suggest changing out the ugly lightbar for one that throws more light. Can the vanity top be cut off at the toilet & changed out for a new white vanity with a white Counter & sink?? A large cream bathmat & bathtowels will really brighten the room. Sounds like you don’t have ceiling fan & vent for moisture, so leaving the door ajar when showering will help.

Didn’t realize the walls are granite, too. You would have success with wallpapering over your granite walls. Just be sure to prep your walls first with lining paper, which allows your wallpaper to stick to any type of surface .

I too find it odd that everything looks like granite. I would also chg out the light above the vanity. Possible chg the vanity doors for different ones or paint them. Also paint the frame around your mirror. Add some bright rugs, towels, & art/decor & that should help tremendously. But ck your cabinet doors, mirror frame, etc, & make sure that it's not just a "finish" that has been applied to certain things in your bathroom. If you have the possibility to remove granite and change to more modern styles materials that will fill and please your preferences, do so. Painting is not a solution and even a good idea, these two materials don't combine. My dad is an expert in such situations, great amazing ideas, and he can do everything by himself. But time takes its own and because of age he is at senior care Minneapolis, enjoying him living community with new friends and favorite books. Very amazing place with beautiful campus were. The Church is present with pastor Terese.

I really do not think the frame around the mirror is granite that would be way too heavy. I would take that off and frame with a nice molding and paint it white. The doors on the cabinet are also probably not real granite, for the same reason. I would get new doors or sand and paint them white also. Check the side of the tub as well.
