If you want to hang stuff on the brick there are great things called Bric-Clips. The last ones I bought I got at JoAnns. It is a springy metal clip that spans the face height of the brick. You do need to have some of the brick sticking out past the mortar in order for the clip to attach. They are not permanent and you can easily move your decor around.
