Protective boarder under new shed- help please!

There is a 6" gap under our new shed. We have very agressive ground hogs who can dig through blacktop. We made a sandwich of chain link fence and chicken wire and pulled it undernesth the shed, but now we need to fill in the exterior base somehow. Of course to level it the space varies in height from 4" to 6"
first lay down a thick layer of cardboard wherever you want your design...I would use a curve or two in the area....then level with sand or soil. You could then shape gardens around or if you prefer a lower maintenance, place coloured mulch , flagstone, pavers or large river rocks in the curves..a couple of planters would give you colour or some low growing shrubs mixed in amongst the hardscape would soften the squareness of the shed...
