What are more susceptable to disease gardenia or camellia shrubs?

I live in Zone 7B (Central Mississippi), I also need one or the other to be deer resistant as well. Can any one help?

    Camellias are occasionally eaten by deer, but they aren't a favorite. Gardenias are less often eaten by deer, according to what I found on the internet.

    I have had lots more problems with camellia bushes with small bugs like spider mites. They cause small black spots on the leaves, and eventually eat through. I live in central Alabama and have much better luck with gardenias.
