My stair banister has a view of my entertainment center and cords walking up it. I would like to cover this and make it look more appealing but don’t know how. Any suggestion??

Depends on how much money you want to devote to this, but I would get a thin piece of plywood long enough to cover everything you want to cover. Then you could cover it with fabric, paint, or contact paper, whatever you think looks good.

Then there are several different ways you could attach it to the bannister without damaging the banister, one would be drilling holes in the plywood and using zip ties. Or you could cut slots in the plywood and use velcro. Or you could just build feet on the plywood, similar to how flat screen tv's have feet that allow them to sit on a countertop. The feet would only need to extend out from the front of the plywood, as the bannister behind it will prevent it from falling backwards. Another option is to drill holes in the plywood and use u-bolts/u-brackets.

They sell premade (usually chinese motif) screens at places like Pier One, which are made for this exact purpose, they open up in a zigzag fashion usually. That might be a lower hassle option if cost is not an issue. Just Google "room divider" to see what I'm talking about.

You could always close up your banister and make it solid instead of the slats. You could cover it with plywood and then paint it or use wallpaper. Or you could weave fabric in and out of the slats to create a barrier. Or here are some ways to try and hide the cords:

zip tie the cords together and get black cord covers for them. Get a longer black extension cord and hide the power strip under the TV stand .

You could get an affordable thick neutral color ribbon and then weave it in and out of each banister from one side to the other to cover it up and create a cool pattern.

Here are some solutions. Personally, I prefer the barn wood but it depends on your décor!

The first thing that comes to my mind is the CD storage rack which I have converted to store my many jars of craft supplies. I think I would paint the backside black and face the backside to the banister. You would have small shelves to place your electrical, transformers etc. on the shelves. It's about 36"x36" and the shelves are only about 4" deep. I bought this at a local thrift shop for about $10.

Cover both sides with a taller-than-the-tv, to make it more pleasing from both sides. [The banister adds to the clutter.] Like the 'floating shelves' are made.

You could use the Luan type paneling, since it is thin and lighter weight than plywood or drywall. Add a top shelf that's wider, or not. To go over the banister, you will have to do some assembly from one side of the wall.

Then paint, wallpaper, varnish....what ever you want the look to be.

If your hanay I personally would take down that banister and add a wall thats is high enough to cover the tv and paint that wall the same as the rest📌🔨

I agree with Bobbie and Sharon, I would just hang a quilt over the banister. Even if your style is modern, there are quilts and coverlets to suit. That would be the easiest to do and wouldn't require any alterations to the staircase. Please post a picture of your solution.

I think I would get some of that willow or bamboo fencing in browns and apply it to the back of the banister,,,,, you could even extend it up high enough to cover the back of the TV and kitty tower. https://www.amazon.com/Master-Garden-Products-Willow-14-Feet/dp/B00GGWPK24/ref=pd_day0_86_3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=TX3NJ1APDX0KS4HKR7F9 amazon also has brown zip ties that you could use to apply to the banister.

or visit some local garden centers to see whats available.

If you sew, i made a long sleeve with elastic at both ends. Thread the tied cords and wires through and lay it on the floor.

Use a few wire ties to gather the wires together . We used Black poster board to hid the openings in the back of our TV . This is what you do use two large black poster boards Cut a line like you would for sheet rock don't cut through the board and fold it to the side then make the same for the other side . Use black tape to hold them together in the center . Just place it behind the TV it will stand up like a half of stop sign behind the TV covering the wires and back of TV and stand. You will still be able to see through the rail on either side of the TV because that will not be closed in . Easy and Cheep yet clean looking way of doing it . I don't think you looking to make a whole wall But if you are a whole wall over the rail that's an Idea as some of the others have said .
