How do you get rid of box elder bug?

Come fall we have been getting box elder bugs all over the front of our house. It is very sunny and warm there. This has been happening for about 5 years. We have lived there 34 years. We can't figure out what is happening. We sprayed the house with a spray for that type of bugs and they are still coming back! How can we get rid of it?

I have a major problem with these every time the rain stops and it gets sunny they cover the whole front of my house I can hardly walk outside ! I was told to buy insecticide and spray the house where they hang out on, every beginning of fall and spring.... But I would rather not use chemicals so idk otherwise.

Thank you for your response. I know what you mean. The strangest thing is none of the neighbors have this problem. My husband did spray the house with an insecticide. The first time there wasn't a problem. However, 2 years ago when he sprayed the house, it stained the siding. Not Good! We had the house power washed but it didn't come off. I guess we will have to learn to live with the bugs and the stained siding. The good news is the bugs are harmless but the front of your house with bugs all over it looks disgusting.

spraying the house is a waste of time. Learn about their life cycle and manage the area where they breed and feed. Also recognize that it is a temporary seasonal invasion and they are not a danger to you or your home. Perhaps you should do NOTHING since the chemicals are likely to be dangerous to you and your home.

Thank you. I think doing nothing is the only choice. We don't have that type of tree in our yard. Two maples but that's it.

Same here! None of my neighbors have this kind of bug problem either! So weird. Yeah I guest the urine and poo can cause stains on your curtains and furniture but otherwise a nucense but harmless. I hate critters flying in my face and hair.lol.
