I love Vanity Fair Dinner Napkins. They are large, sturdy and look nice. I opened a new box of them this weekend. As I looked at the box I had an aha moment! I decided to turn the box into an attractive napkin holder that you can put on your counter or your table. Cost was only the price of the napkins as I had everything else on hand.
To make the box more sturdy I cut a piece of heavy card board the size of the box bottom and glued it to the bottom.
Next I cut a piece of card board to fit inside the box giving it additional sturdiness. I picked a color paint that I had on hand, which happen to be Behr Eggshell Enamel (Serene Breeze). I started by painting the inside of the box first. You can use a spray paint if you prefer.
This is inside of the box after painting. I put two coats inside outside.
My next step was to paint the outside of the box, two coats. I have some fabric on hand that coordinated nicely with the color on the box. I cut a strip long enough to go around the circumference of the box. Using my sewing machine I sewed a decorative stitch on it. I glued the fabric around the box and then covered the inside and outside of the box with Mod Podge.
The finished product. It really is cute and you can continue to use it.
