My compost has maggots in it, can I use it or how to kill them

    They can be useful. They do however indicate that your compost may be too green (food waste, fresh leaves etc) with not enough Brown (pine needles, dried leaves etc). If they really bother you, you can sprinkle a little lime and will kill the maggots off but be safe it will also make your compost more alkaline so you'll want to adjust it with more acidic material.

    The maggots should die if you have enough heat generated in your compost pile. I'd turn the compost over. Is it totally dry or is there some moisture in it? You are not suppose to put any animal products in your compost pile - are you?
