Challenge: Create an inexpensive, simple picture frame. As I sat in my "She Shed Office" 🤔 thinking about what to do, I noticed several paint paddles. You know the ones that are given to you when you purchase paint. That's it! I can create a frame using the paddles. I have also been thinking of an easy, inexpensive idea that the grands and elementary students could make for their parents for Christmas🎄🎄 Which, might I add, is only sixty-three days away? I decided to make two different frames to display photographs. One with spring clips and the other one with magnets.
I placed the paddles on the table to decide how I would place them.
I placed the paddles so both outside pieces would be on the top.
I hot glued the pieces together.
I decided to stain this one.
Next, I tied jute on each corner for reinforcement and to add a rustic touch. I also tied a piece of jute across the top for a way to hang the frame.i
I cut a piece of sturdy cardboard and glued it to the back of the frame. I used acrylic paint and painted the cardboard bright red and wrote "Home Sweet Home" ( old fashion manuscript) with puffy paint. To hold the pictures, I used spring clips. The clips will provide an easy way to trade out pictures for display.
Repeated the process...
Spray painted the wood
Silvey and I love the blue color.
Stenciled "Blessed" on the bottom in the same bright red used on the other frame.
I used black foam board on the back of this frame.
Next, I added adhesive magnetic sheets to the foam board.
Wrapped jute around the corners and added a piece on the top for hanging.
I made magnets using small adhesive magnet circles and large, red, plastic gem stones to match the red paint.
The completed easy, peasy projects...there are so many ways these can be decorated. You can also make them the size of a picture, and just paint the frame. You can add ribbon or bows, write on them and glue sea shells or something special on the frame. I wanted an easy way to change out the pictures often. This is also a great way to display that special art drawn or painted by your young artist.
