If you are looking for craft ideas to repurpose them just because you do not want to throw them out, then an alternate idea is to take them to your local post office (an outlet that has the after hours kiosks with free boxes and labels) and donate them for others to use for packing. Especially with the holiday season approaching, there is always someone at the post office who is packing up and sending a gift.
Mix a couple of handfuls of the styrofoam peanuts into potting mix, to fill the bottom half of your large garden pots. Fill with plain potting mix the rest of the way up. Your potted plants will appreciate the improved drainage! The peanuts act like perlite. Thanks to Cathy for the idea.
