My dresser drawers reopen after closing them.

Does anyone know how to stop this? It's very dangerous in the middle of the night because you don't expect them to be open.

  • I would look at placing a shim under the front feet of the dresser so that is tilted back just a little. that might help them stay closed.

check to see if your dresser is level, sometimes you may have to rotate drawers.

Yes; raise the front of your dresser, like Elizabeth says.

Sounds like your floor isn't level or the dresser isn't level. Put a small wood block under each front foot of the dresser to tilt it back.

Sounds like a leveling issue... either in the floor or with the dresser..... get a level and check.
If the floor is the problem, you need a professional to see what must happen to correct the problem.
If it is the dresser.. then the front is lower than the back, try temporarily shimming it until it is level and see if that fixes the problem, you may need to make the front slightly, 1/4 inch or so higher than the back, to stop the drawers from self opening. Once you know what has to be done... you can trim the bottom to fix it for good.

Try using high quality sticky magnets, if that's isn't an option,
Then maybe watch Dino-Pinch on you tube

Put a small block of wood in the corner of the front of the dresser base of each opening for a drawer just at the molding flush with the opening . There should be a gap under the drawer so it should fit when you pull the drawer out the block stops it . When you put the drawer back lift up the back over the small block and slid it back in . The drawer should not pull out again unless up lift of the back and tilt the drawer out .
If that doesn't work toss it and buy a new one because drawers don't just open in the middle of the night. Think Halloween lol
