Everytime I put down grass seed the birds eat it up. What can I do?

I would cover it. Go to your local home improvement store and see what options they have, or even just other suggestions. If you have large areas to do you could even do it in smaller areas at a time that you can cover.

Hi Irene. After you put the seed down gently rake it in. I then cover the area with covering hay.

Cover it with straw so they can't see the seeds.

Grass seed needs to be covered with straw till it take root and begins growing.
  • Did you top the seed? That is why "overseeding" is sometimes recommended.
