I personally use a hair brush on my furniture in between a good vacuuming.

  • I have rubber "brushes" both hand held for upholstery and long handled for use on rugs and carpets. Works like a charm. If you want a photo, let me know!

Oh lord, you have opened a big can of worms today. I've searched the internet many times and there are several ways but none of them work really well. Cat hair is different than dog hair as it is finer and thinner. 1.) Get a bucket of water, a towel and a window squeegee. Dip squeegee in water and shake off and/or lightly wipe in towel. Rake over furniture several times. This will "roll" the hair in lumps. Continue over entire area. 2.) Bucket of water, a towel and a rubber glove. Dip your glove in water and shake off excess. Rub furniture. The two ideas are good but not perfect. I have purchased commercial lint rollers (that dry cleaners use) and they are not much better than what you buy in stores. Questions: do you have hardwood floors? If so, you must dust everyday or every other day. Do you have central heat/air as that does help. Then, there is the vacuum to consider. Also, using a damp microfiber cloth to wipe off furniture etc., helps as it does not scatter any dust or hair. I have resigned to live not in a house but a hairball.....

I have one of those vacuums that is good for pet hair. It has a brush to use on the furniture that is actually powered like the main vacuum. It works really well! We have four dogs and a hybrid cat. No matter how hard I try, it is almost impossible to be hair free. I agree with Karen. Sometimes I think we live in a hairball!
